You might be wondering what time of year to choose for your trip of a lifetime. In our opinion, Australia is a wonderful destination all year round! However, due to the size of the country, the climate differs in each state and so you may want to plan ahead. Here are some ideas to help you make your choice:
Spring: September – November
A perfect time to take in the stunning flora of Australia’s parks and gardens
A quieter season but most companies are operating at this time
A great time to get in early and grab those jobs before the masses arrive!
Summer: December - February
This is the hottest season with temperatures of around 30ºC in many parts of the country
This is the perfect time to enjoy Australia’s beautiful beaches; try surfing or just sunbathing!
It is also the period of highest rainfall in the Northern areas and the Great Barrier Reef. It can be VERY hot and humid in these areas.
Celebrate Christmas with a BBQ on the beach
It’s a busy period so you may want to book accommodation a little in advance
Autumn: March – May
This is a quieter period so there is less need to book ahead
The Australian football season starts; try getting to a match to witness some true Aussie excitement
Not such sweltering temperatures and some beautiful autumn colours
Winter: June – August
Only busy in winter resorts and cities
The main ski season takes place from mid June to September. The Snowy Mountains of NSW are a popular destination along with Victoria’s High Country
Some tours and transport will not be running
If you want to escape the cold weather in these months, head north to Tropical Queensland.
