In 1956 a rock structure was built for the Olympic Games in Port Phillip Bay, 4 km from the mouth of the Yarra River.
Naturally adopted this has become the home for a thriving colony of Little (Fairy) Penguins - kept a secret until 1993 when Captain Noel Butcher (Port Phillip Bay Environment Study) established Penguin Waters Cruises and gained sole permission (Department of Natural Resources and Environment, City of Port Phillip) to show you this colony of Little Penguins up close.
Penguin Waters sunset cruise departs daily from Southbank berth one(next
to walkbridge) and Docklands shed 9 ( end of Latrobe st )
